Nov.24 - Part 2

It has been a busy few days. After touring the city in the van and on foot, there were a bunch of housekeeping activities and such, and some get to know each other activities. Its absolutely great since everybody is from all over the country, and things are really eye-opening to just how big Canada is. Its been nothing but laughs from the beginning and I'm settling in nicely. My only complaint is that the spacebar is sticky so if my words blend, you know why. I have been keeping a journal with my daily thoughts and activities so that I can post when I have the chance, the computer sees a lot of use here. Right now things aren't incredibly exciting to write about since its been mostly settling in, but Wednesday I start working. I'm going to see if I can post pictures since I've taken a bunch of the house, but I'm not sure when they will be on-line. I miss some things about Ontario, mainly people, but the scenery and the air out here are beautiful. We have had snow for the last two days, not much but enough to cover everything in a layer of white. I have to pack to go to Mass Orientation so this is all for now.

Nov.24 - Part 1 (Arrival)

What a long day! I got up and made it to Pearson Airport for 7:45am, where I caught the 9:15 flight to Moncton. I arrived in Moncton International Airport at about 12:30pm local time, then had to sit in the airport waiting for the rest of the flights to come in. We hung out playing some awesome games and having a whole bunch of laughs, everybody is awesome here. It wasn't until 5:30 that we boarded the bus which took our group and the group on their way to Woodstock. The bus got a little lost leaving the airport so we drove for 20 minutes before turning around. Once we got to the house we unpacked and checked out the house. It's a old house, about 100 years old, but really well setup for us. Anyways, this is a two part messages and so ends part one, so that the project leader can use the computer.

The rest shall follow,

Going Away Party!

Saturday was an awesome day! Thanks to everyone who came to the party, and a special thanks to everyone who brought gifts. It is a big help and I am thankfull for the support. I was extremely glad to see so many people attend and show their support for a fairly large change in my life. Going away for nine months has given me a better idea of how many other people a single person can affect, as I have had a tremendous number of people offer reassurance and support to me. It gets harder to say goodbye as the 23rd draws closer, so I'll say this instead, "It's not goodbye but rather see you later." I may be a long way away, or maybe closer depending on where you live, but I will never be out of touch. Feel free to drop me a line at mr.eddie.main@gmail.com or leave a comment and I will get back to you when I can.

Friday was an awesome day. 9:30 in the morning saw me at my most nervous in months, as I was taking the G2 exit test and only had one chance to take it before leaving. So upon coming home joyfully, having passed, to find a confirmation of my flight information as well as my contact info for Fredricton, NB, in the mail, my day got even more exciting.

The Plastic Horn

Well, well, well. Arrrrrrrrggggggggooooooossss!
How much fun can $9 buy? I endevoured to find out at a Toronto Argonauts game. Turns out, if you're the one with the horn, a lot. If not, and you happen to be an unsuspecting commuter on your way home through Union Station, then its not a lot of fun. Anyways, nobody was arrested in the process of this research so all is well.

I know this has nothing to do with Katimavik but I had to try posting a photo!

Pre-Katimavik

Wow, it's November 7 and a little more than 2 weeks before I leave. I'm starting to get nervous, mainly about packing, but also about being away from everybody for 9 months. I want to thank everybody who has wished me well and supported me in this endevour. I'm really hyped since this will be a totally new experience, but should also be a lot of fun. I will attempt to post to this when I can while I'm gone, but I make no guarentees as I don't know how much computer access I will have. Leave me a message and I will get back to you when I can.
